BIOGRAPHY

Donald Easton-Brooks earned the doctor of philosophy degree in educational leadership and innovation and master of arts degree in early childhood special education from the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center.

Dr. Easton-Brooks started at the University of North Texas in the summer of 2006. His teaches courses in early childhood educations and multicultural education. Before arriving at UNT, he taught at Central Washington University, University of Connecticut, and University of Rhode Island. He also worked as a research assistant at the Denver Children's Hospital and a special education teacher in two school districts in the Denver metro area.

Dr. Easton-Brooks' research centers on the effects of social factors (community, economics, policies, school structure, and school function) on the academic achievement of minority students in early elementary classroom settings. He has published articles on the achievement gap and educational policies. He has also presented on topics related to multicultural education, teacher efficiency, and early childhood education. He has also appeared on Good Morning Dallas.

Dr. Easton-Brooks serves as a journal reviewer for Education Policy Analysis Archives, and as a reviewer for the National Association of Multicultural Education Annual Conference, He has also served as a reviewer for the American Education Research Association. He has served on the board of Denton Christian Preschool. He has served as a consultant for Denton Independent School District, and Great Denver Head Start.
